A flurry of construction and renovations are occurring in preparation for the upcoming 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. One of the projects shaping up to be even cooler than I initially imagined is the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster going into Future World in Epcot. There is quite a debate to be had on whether or not Guardians of the Galaxy is a good fit for Epcot, but one thing I cannot argue with is how intrigued I am by the design of the ride vehicles being built for this ride!
The concept art for the vehicles shows a blue, yellow and silver color pallet with a color-block pattern featuring sharp angles. The cabs appear to seat four people each, with two in front and two in back.
The ride system is being referred to as a “storytelling coaster” because of the unique way guests are immersed into the surroundings of the coaster. Rather than being positioned facing straight-forward for the length of the ride, these vehicles will move in a way that will direct the attention of the riders to intended points. In addition to this unique ride system being utilized, the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster will be one of the world’s longest indoor roller coasters!
The ride is scheduled to open in 2021 and I cannot wait to see the end result! Are you for or against Guardians of the Galaxy in Epcot? We can argue about in line once it opens!
