PhotoPass is a wonderful service that Disney World has that helps families keep their magical memories for a lifetime. It is pretty simple: you find a PhotoPass photographer in the parks, ask them to take your photo, scan your MagicBand or card, and then, like magic, those photos show up on your My Disney Experience App. It looks like some changes might be in the works though.
Disney is rumored to be getting ready to introduce automated cameras instead of cast members taking your photos. These cameras seem like they would be along the lines of the automatic cameras that they already have in some rides taking your picture. Now, they will have these automatic cameras instead of PhotoPass photographers at select character meet-and-greet locations. An automated camera will be positioned in the room to take photos of your interaction with the characters. These automatic cameras are rumored to debut late November, and could already be in the test process at Town Square Theater and Adventurers Outpost.
My Feelings on this-
No Disney! Don’t do this! We love purchasing Memory Maker because of the awesome photos that we get from the PhotoPass photographers (all the photos in this article are from PhotoPass photographers)! If Disney does this, I feel like we will not be getting those magical photos that we all love. How is a machine supposed to catch those heart melting photos of a child meeting his or her favorite character for the first time? Normally, I am all for the changes that Disney makes, but this is one I am not looking forward to.
