This morning, the Walt Disney Company has announced a number of eco-friendly initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste from all of its properties worldwide. The Company has announced a number of programs, to be implemented over time, starting with the elimination of all single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers at owned and operated properties worldwide by mid-2019. Visitors of Walt Disney World know Disney already only offers paper straws at Animal Kingdom.
Over the next few years, Disney also vows to transition to refillable in-room amenities (think: shampoo and conditioner) in hotels and on cruise ships and to begin offering reusable shopping bags for purchase in parks and on the cruise line. Disney will work to fully eliminate polystyrene cups at global owned and operated businesses. All of these programs aim to vastly reduce plastic waste from Disney guests and help our planet!
